Yellow - because it's yellow (duh!).
Dwarf - because it's small compared to other stars.
This is fortunate, because - if it was a regular-size star - there would be no Earth as we know it!
The Sun moves at the speed of 220 km per second, and it takes about 250 million years to go around the center of our galaxy, the Milky Way. Yes, the Sun also revolves around something, in the similar way to the planets, which revolve around the Sun.
The main ingredients of this wonderful source of SOLAR energy are Hydrogen (almost 3/4), and Helium (almost 1/4). The temperature in the middle of the Sun is around 15 MILLION degrees Celsius, and on the surface 'only' 5000!
So, how long will the Sun live? It's already about 4.5 billion years old, but the scientists estimate it will live for another five billion years. This means that the Sun is now middle aged.
Do you know how the Sun got its name?
