What are COMETS?

They live in the suburbs of the Solar System called KUIPER BELT.
In that neighborhood, there are a lot of dwarf planets, asteroids and billions of meteoroids, which are all the leftovers from the creation of the Solar System. All those rocks and ice didn't merge into a planet because of Neptune.

A comet has a bodyNUCLEUS - made from ROCKS and ICE, and two tails. One is made of DUST, and the other of GAS. When it comes closer to the Sun, the ice from its nucleus melts, and it turns into gas. That means that, when it's near the Sun, the Comet has an atmosphere!
This temporary atmosphere is called a COMA!!!

So, do you know how long it takes a comet to make a circle (or an ellipse) from the Kuiper Belt, to the Sun, and back home?
